Mourilyan virus
Also known as: MoV
Mourilyan virus is an RNA virus isolated from black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) in Australia. It has been detected in both wild and farmed shrimp. Though often asymptomatic, high viral loads may be associated with reduced growth and productivity. Mourilyan virus is not considered a major pathogen but is monitored as a potential co-factor in complex shrimp disease syndromes.
Distribution: Australia
Hosts: Black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon)
Detection Methods: PCR – unspecified
Target Tissue: Hepatopancreas, muscle (not clearly defined)
